Verkies jy piekniekkonserte op ’n grasperk tussen die wingerde, sorgelose herfsaande met goeie wyn, ou en nuwe vriende, goeie musiek en goeie kos?
Hiervoor het Bilton Wynplaas by die aangesluit as nuwe venue by 2011 se Woordfees. Bilton is op die Annandale-pad en is die tuiste van die maandelikse “Matt Black Sessies”. Die week se vertonings sluit in Stef Bos en sy orkes, Koos Kombuis en Jak de Priester in “Brooklyn Babelaas”, aKing se vrystelling van hul nuwe album, Karen Zoid en Nick turner saam met Zinkplaat en laastens die groot afsluiting van 2011 se Woordfeesprogram: Chris Chameleon en Plush.
Matt Black Sessions Vol. 5: Roxette Tribute
Theme & dress code: 80’s. The ever inventive Matt Black Sessions kick off 2011 with a tribute to the one band who went under our parents’ radar and brought millions of kids rock riffs and pop melodies while we were still too young to understand Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix. Come jam it out on Roxette tunes like you’ve never heard it before.

Theme & dress code: DEAR JOHNNY. Celebrating all the Johnnies we’ve loved before (Johnny Cash, John Denver, John Fogerty, John Mayer, John Lennon, Joni Mithcell, etc.). Around 16 bands and musos will give Johnny their regards. Including (members of): Van Coke Kartel, Foto Na Dans, Machineri, Manouche, Pretty Blue Guns, Baarmoedergevoel, Zinkplaat, Coal, Newton, Willim Welsyn, Stefan Dixon… and many more.

Avast! It be the full moon of a fortnight, so ye betterrr scrawl over to ye olde Bilton Estate on Octobarrr the 23d. Hoist yer sails and brrrring ye mateys and prisoners for a parley with the scallywags of MR CAT & THE JACKAL who be hosting a grog fest with a chestful of treasures from distant ports! Joining them on stage are the upcoming gypsie jazzo’s from Manouche.

Matt Black Sessions Vol. 2: BLUES BRAAI (a Blues extravaganza & pre-Braaidag celebration)
Heads up for BILTON’S BLUES BRAAI on 23d September. Its a pre-celebration for Braai Day / Heritage Day with a load of local tastes, sounds, sights and people on the grill:
-A tasting of Biltong and Bilton wines (free)
-A mass Braai (Buy and braai your own braaipacks, or we’ll braai it for you, lazybones)
-An exhibition of locally inspired & designed Bags from Nannah
-Booze from the Best Bar in town – Bohemia
-Beans from the Bush with Back2Africa Coffee
-And especially: A huge BLUES JAM with legends on the scene Dale Collins, Basson Laubscher, Simon Orange, Wayne Pauli & Greg Smith. These guys will move beyond their comfort zones, swapping instruments and frontmen to bring you the blues as never heard or seen before. Joining them as guests are the local gritty blues rockers The Pretty Blue Guns.

Agter die mikrofoon was ‘n rits musikante, solo of saam-saam, uit die geledere van New Holland, Zinkplaat, Peter Mitchell, Ryno Velvet, Basson Laubscher & The Violent Free Peace, Johannine & The Rivers, Simon Swerwer, Willim Welsyn, President Sally, Joelevite en nog baie meer wat saam en apart opgetree het.
Hul opdrag: speel enige liedjies van enige Bob (Marley, Dylan, Seger, Johnson, Geldoff, noem maar op). Die gehoor trek aan as hul gunsteling Bob (bv. Bob Mugabe, Bob the Builder, ens.). Daar was ook ‘n uitstalling van kunswerke, plakkate en dies meer in dieselfde tema.
